All Scrubbed Up are proud to be supporting WECare, who provide veterinary help to street dogs that otherwise would have no access to any form of health care. The charity, set up by UK vet Janey Lowes, aims to better the lives of animals, reduce the incidence of rabies and change attitudes towards animal welfare – all in all an incredibly large and important job in southern Sri Lanka!

WeCare Worldwide holds a special place in Laura’s heart after she spent 2 months volunteering with them in 2018, and this surf dog fabric encapsulates the street dogs and Sri Lanka perfectly!
The charity provides:
– Free veterinary care and treatment for sick and injured animals: RTA’s are overwhelmingly common, as is extensive and debilitating skin disease, wounds (think maggots….mmm) and tick fever.
– Catch, neuter, vaccinate, release (CNVR) drives: firstly to reduce the roaming street dog population (estimated around 3 million!) and the numbers of puppies dumped at a very young age. This also helps in eradicating rabies from the island.
– Educating the community, mentoring local vets – which is key to making a sustainable improvement in animal health and welfare in the area.
